Interface reconstruction + sealing strategy

Nested interface development used to evaluate sealing, retention, wall thickness, assembly order, access, and service strategy through controlled CAD revisions.

Architecture and interface evidence only. Leakage, condensation, durability, and production performance are not claimed.

Define what the reconstructed model must do

A visual reference, fit-check model, interchangeable interface, manufacturing definition, and corrected redesign require different evidence. The first step is to name the intended use and the consequence of a mismatch.

Documented reconstruction work produced editable SolidWorks geometry and neutral manufacturing data from imperfect physical references. Surface repair, thickness control, fit-interface recovery, and design-intent decisions mattered more than copying local noise.

Recover function before surface detail

  • Identify locating, sealing, retaining, moving, load-bearing, and user-contact interfaces.
  • Choose datums from function and assembly, not from the easiest visible face.
  • Separate measured evidence from inferred nominal geometry.
  • Preserve free-state and assembled-state differences where compliance matters.
  • Use controlled sections, lofts, sweeps, and filled surfaces only with explicit continuity intent.

Make uncertainty visible

A measured sample can include wear, distortion, repair, coating, and production variation. Extra decimal places do not remove that uncertainty. Nominalization should be recorded as an engineering decision with its sources and confidence.

For uncorrelated inputs, combined standard uncertainty: u_c = √(Σ(cᵢuᵢ)²). Report the result with units, coverage basis, and the configuration measured.

Verify the master model independently

  1. Check critical dimensions against source evidence not used to build the feature.
  2. Review mating interfaces, clearances, thickness, and assembly order.
  3. Compare mass, envelope, sections, and symmetry where those responses are meaningful.
  4. Export neutral data and re-import it to detect translation or healing problems.
  5. Record which milestone was accepted and avoid extending that acceptance to unverified production claims.
