Understand the product first
User needs, use cases, business constraints, interfaces, and success criteria frame the engineering work.
About Jared Maffucci
I am a senior mechanical engineer and product-development consultant based in North County San Diego. I work directly with teams that need an experienced engineer to understand the whole product and own the mechanical path forward.
My work covers the product lifecycle: requirements, architecture, concept development, mechanisms, structures, ergonomics, freeform geometry, electromechanical packaging, CAD, analysis, prototypes, validation, manufacturing release, and product improvement.
I have applied that range to consumer products, body-fit devices, sports hardware, automotive components, process-control equipment, industrial flow systems, precision mechanisms, advanced equipment, and aerospace hardware. The variety matters because strong product development requires more than a narrow technical answer; it requires judgment across feasibility, performance, user experience, cost, reliability, manufacturing, service, and scale.
Operating principles
User needs, use cases, business constraints, interfaces, and success criteria frame the engineering work.
I establish load paths, motion, energy, boundary conditions, and sensitivities before refining geometry.
I compare credible directions and use calculations, prototypes, and trade studies to reject weak concepts early.
Materials, processes, assembly, inspection, suppliers, service, sourcing, and cost are design inputs from the beginning.
Questions
Yes. I am responsible for the engagement and remain the primary technical contact.
Yes. I can own a defined workstream, provide an independent review, or add temporary senior mechanical engineering capacity.
Yes. I take focused standalone work including parametric CAD, model cleanup and configuration, mesh reconstruction and editing, photorealistic 3D rendering, 3D-print preparation, and decision-focused FEA or CFD.
No. I develop and support the engineering definition and can coordinate technical work with qualified suppliers.
