The challenge

Four related products needed common adjustment behavior without becoming four unrelated mechanisms, four incompatible supplier packages, or one over-constrained design.

The useful decision was not simply how to model each product. It was which functions, interfaces, CTQs, and purchased components should remain common—and where variant-specific structure was necessary.
